Bentley R Type
The Bentley R Type is the second series of post war automobiles. The engine displacement was over 4½ litres. The body is a standard steel sports saloon by Bentley with very elegant pre war lines with subtle deco features. A wealth of polished Burr Walnut veneers grace the dashboard, door surrounds and picnic tables adding that touch of class and coupled with the luxurious ivory Connolly hide leather seating this sports saloon truly is an elegant automobile. For such a large imposing car the performance was far from “adequate” as quoted by Bentley with a top speed of 107 MPH this car is a grand sporting luxurious lady.
This particular car was delivered new to a leather salesman in Guildford in 1952 who used the car driven by his Chauffeur to and from his shop on the kings road London.
